Baryonic Faber-Jackson Relation

Baryonic mass in spiral galaxies is tightly proportional to their rotational velocity to the fourth power and is called the baryonic Tully-Fisher relation (McGaugh 2011). This relation also appears in the low acceleration region of the radial acceleration relation (McGaugh et al. 2016). We examine the corresponding Faber-Jackson relation in elliptical galaxies. By selecting elliptical galaxies in low acceleration regime, we confirm the existence of a baryonic Faber-Jackson relation. The relation has a similar power law as spiral galaxies as tight as theirs.
