  • The 2007 Annual Meeting of the Chinese Astronomical Society (Taiwan) will be held at the College of Medicine, National Cheng-Kung University in Tainan, from June 1st (Fri) to 3rd (Sun).We are looking forward to your attend. To date, there are 124 registered participants. 2 invited and 26 contributed talks, as well as 53 posters will be presented in the meeting. In addition, the conference for science education will be held in parallel.

    Participants are requested to note the followings:

    • Opening Reception:
      The opening reception will be held at 18:30, June 1st (Fri) in the garden located on the 4th floor of Physics Building II, Cheng-Kung Campus. For the ones who need to drive into the campus, please enter through the gate on Ta-Hsueh Road; show this announcement to the university police and follow their direction for your parking.


    • Registration:
      Registration will open at 18:20, June 1st (Fri) on the 4th floor of Physics Building II and continue starting from 08:00 on June 2nd (Sat) and 3rd (Sun) at College of Medicine in Chieng-Kuo Campus. A registration fee of $500 should be paid on site.


    • Parking:
      According to the university rules, all the participants requesting parking in campus should book the all-day parking permits through Chinese Astronomical Society ( fare: $30 NT/day). For the ones who need parking permits, please email your name, affiliation, parking date(s) (6/2, 6/3) and mobile phone number to by May 31st noon. If you arrive by 10:00, June 2nd (Sat), you can get your parking permits from a staff student serving in the police office at the gate of Chieng-Kuo campus. Otherwise, please call Mr. Chin-Ping Hu at 0963462616, 15 minutes before your arrival for assistant.


    • Invited Talks
      1. Invited talk I
        • Speaker: Prof Sun Kwok (Chair Professor of Physics and Dean of Science, University of Hong Kong)
        • Title: Extraterrestrial Influence on the Evolution of the Early Earth
      2. Invited talk II
        • Speaker: Prof. Wing-Huen Ip (Vice President and Professor of Astronomy, National Central University)
        • Title: Astrobiolgy at the Saturnian System

      In additional the invited talk during the meeting, Prof. Sun Kwok will give another talk entitled "Atomic, Molecular and Solid-State Radiation Processes in the interstellar Medium" at 10:00 June 1st (Fri) in National Center for Theoretical Science at Cheng-Kung Campus of Cheng-Kung University. All the participants are welcome.


    • Oral Presentation:
      Due to the tie schedule, each oral presentation is expected no more than 10 minutes plus additional 2 minutes for discussions. All the speakers are recommended to copy your files for presentations into the notebook we prepare for the talks in advance of your sessions. The files in PowerPoint or PDF formats are strongly suggested. To avoid delay due to software problem, we also recommend the speakers who need to use multi-media (e.g. animation) in presentations to check if these files are able to run smoothly in the notebook for the talks as early as possible.


    • Poster Exhibition:
      Poster exhibition is scheduled from June 2nd (Sat) morning to June 3rd (Sun) noon. The size of poster broad is 90 cm (width) x 120 cm (height). Thumbtack will be prepared for the authors to post up their posters. The authors are suggested to stay beside their poster during the coffee break, especially between 15:30- 16:00 on June 2nd (Sat), which is scheduled for referees' review. The authors of the best poster awards have to give 3-minute reports about their posters on June 3rd.

    • ALMA Town Meeting:
      ALMA-Taiwan Project team will hold the 4th ALMA-Taiwan town meeting at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) during the CAST2007 meeting. All the people, who are interested in the Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Array (ALMA) Project, are invited to the meeting.

    • Free Tours (Optional):
      There will be two free tours after the end of the annual meeting at noon of June 3rd (Sun). The ones who would like to enjoy the tours should enroll one of them in meeting registration.

      1. Tainan Astronomical Education Area (12:30 to 16:00)
        Tainan Astronomical Education Area, located at Danei Township of Tainan County, was founded last year by Tainan County government. It is the largest scientific education area in the southern part of Taiwan. Tainan County government will provide a free bus for the participants to travel between Tainan Astronomical Education Area and National Cheng-Kung University from 12:30 to 16:00. Due to the limitation of the bus seats, please reconfirm during the meeting registration if you would like to take the bus. Tour is also free for the ones who would like to drive to Tainan Astronomical Education Area.

      2. National Cheng Kung University Museum (13:30 to 15:30)
        The museum is the only university museum in Taiwan. No admission fee is required. To serve the participants of 2007 Annual Meeting of the Chinese Astronomical Society, the museum provides a tour guide between 13:30 to 15:30 on June 3rd, all the meeting participants are welcome but must enroll during the meetings registration.
