The flare activity of YSOs in Rho Ophiuchus based on the K2 survey

We here present the optical flare activity study on the young stellar objects (YSOs) in the very young (~1-2 Myr) Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex using the K2 long-cadence data. 261 YSOs were identified using the Gaia DR3, and 145 of them have been observed by the K2 mission in Campaign 2. Among these K2 samples, 8 are class 0/I YSOs, 76 are class II, and 31 are class III. No flares detected on class 0/I YSOs. But 8 Class II YSOs and 4 class III YSOs have been found to be able to produce flares. All flaring YSOs are K- or M-type and rapidly rotating with the rotation period shorter than 10 days. This result implies that the magnetic activity and accretion process at different formation stages of YSOs could be explored by a statistical study of the white light flare events.
